Shuffle Pals game guide

Crazy Eights rules

Be the first player to empty your hand by matching the discard pile’s suit or rank. Eights are wild and let you choose which suit comes next.

Setup

  1. Shuffle a standard 52-card deck.
  2. Deal seven cards to each player.
  3. Turn one non-eight card face up to start the discard pile.
  4. Place the remaining cards face down as the draw pile.

How to play

  1. Play a card matching either the current suit or the top card’s rank.
  2. You may play an 8 at any time, regardless of the current card.
  3. After playing an 8, choose the suit the next player must follow.
  4. If you cannot—or do not want to—play, draw one card.
  5. You may play the drawn card if it is legal, or pass your turn.
  6. The first player to play every card wins.
Example

If the discard is 5♥, you may play any heart, any 5, or any 8. A wild 8 lets you call spades, hearts, diamonds, or clubs.

Beginner strategy

Save an eight

A wild card can rescue you when no ordinary card matches, especially late in the game.

Call your strongest suit

After playing an 8, choose the suit you hold most often to create an easier next turn.

Watch Finn’s hand

When Finn has only one or two cards, use an eight to move play away from the current suit.
